The James Construction Revisted
Abstract: A common assertion is that if f:X--> Y is a map from a path-connected space to a homotopy associative H-space then the James construction implies that f extends to an H-map from the loop suspension of X to Y, and the choice of extension is unique up to homotopy. But no proof of this seems to exist in the literature. We give a proof, whose purpose is more to shed light on some interesting features of the James construction rather than to lay claim to originality.
