Event details

Spare optimization problems have found broad applications in signal recovery. The related theory and algorithms, especially for compressed sensing and sparse data representation, have experienced remarkable developments for more than a decade. However, many problems remain open or have only been partially addressed. In this presentation, some of these problems at their current stage of development are briefly introduced and their links to convex and nonconvex mathematical optimization are also briefly discussed.

Speaker information

Dr Yunbin Zhao, University of Birmingham. Dr Yunbin Zhao received the PhD degree from the Chinese Academy of Sciences (CAS) in 1998. He joined to the University of Birmingham in 2007. He is a senior lecturer in Theoretical Optimization and Computation Group at Birmingham. His research interests include the operations research, computational optimization, numerical analysis, numerical linear algebra, and their applications to sparse data reconstruction.
