Event details

Gauge groups appear in the formulation of the so-called gauge theories in physics, such as the Yang-Mills gauge theory. Understanding the topology of the gauge groups and their classifying spaces is crucial in the context of gauge theories and their applications in mathematics. A less rigid approximation to the study of these mapping spaces is the one provided by homotopy theory. In this talk I will discuss the classification problem of gauge groups associated with some exotic spheres and other $S^3$-bundles over $S^4$ from a homotopy theoretical viewpoint.
