Event details

Topological complexity has become a very active area of research in algebraic topology since its introduction in 2003 by Michael Farber. Given a path-connected topological space X, the topological complexity of X is a number that measures the “obstructions” to obtain a continuous map sending a pair of points in X to a path connecting them. In this talk I will give a brief introduction to topological complexity and some related topics such as configuration spaces, robot motion planning and the Lusternik–Schnirelmann category.
