Event details

Abstract: Serre’s Conjecture (now a theorem of Khare and Wintenberger) states that every odd, irreducible representation from Gal(K/Q) to GL(n,q) arises from a modular form of prescribed level and weight. I’ll explain the statement, its role in the Langlands program, and various (conjectured) generalizations to the context of n-dimensional representations of Galois groups over number fields.
