Hi, I'm Alex Johnson and I studied PgDip/MSc Operational Research and Finance within Mathematical Sciences at the University of Southampton.

The maths staff have all contributed greatly to making me enjoy my time here as much as I have.

I chose to undertake my studies with the University of Southampton because Southampton is very highly regarded for Mathematics. The University puts a lot of effort into ensuring the success of their students and not only that, it felt the most welcoming out of any university that I visited. I was already studying at Southampton and wanted to further my understanding and knowledge. Having been at Southampton for the previous three years and really enjoyed the teaching style and the way the University operates it seemed like an obvious choice to stay here for my postgraduate study.

All staff in the Maths department are helpful and put all their effort into wanting you to succeed. They take their time out to offer help and support with work or non-work related queries that you may have. The maths staff have all contributed greatly to making me enjoy my time here as much as I have.

I would definitely recommend the university to perspective students. Both my undergrad and postgrad courses have been very enjoyable. They work is challenging and therefore very rewarding when you accomplish and complete it. Staff are always there to help and I feel that the University as a whole caters for its students very well!

I am hoping to secure myself on a graduate scheme where I can use the skills and knowledge that I have acquired through my 4 years at university. Before, that I will be going travelling and undertaking some volunteering work in many different countries around the world.
