There are currently 18 graduate students associated with the Pure Mathematics group at the University of Southampton and we are always looking for more.
Our main areas of interest currently lie at the intersection of group theory, geometry and topology and you can find out more about what we do by exploring our research pages . Suitably qualified graduate students may be eligible for EPSRC funding, and the School of Mathematics also funds one or two PhD places a year in Pure Mathematics.
As well as a weekly colloquium featuring guest speakers there is a biweekly research seminar at which staff and students present current work. The graduates also organise their own seminar to which staff are NOT invited! Furthermore, we teach two graduate courses each semester. A list of recent courses can be found below.
