E-Learning showcase (WeNDY)

Published: 24 March 2011

On 24 March, the Faculty of Medicine e-leaning team lead by Sunhea Choi organised and hosted the We eLearn – Do you? (WeNDY) event at Southampton University. The conference involved an exhibition of recently completed e-learning projects as well as workshops and live demos.

Starting with a Keynote presentation, “e-learning – Vision and Future”, by Dr Chris Stephens, the event offered a one-day conference, three workshops, live demos and an exhibition of projects. It identified key elements for successful eLearning: target audience, learning design, curriculum integration, eLearning solution, requirements, nature of the subject, curriculum design and affordances of technology. A number of projects, including Virtual Patients,MEDUS, Psychiatry, Pathology Interactive Practical’s (PiPs), Nutrition, Malnutrition and Allergy, illustrated how each element affects the development of eLearning that is creative, interactive, accessible, integral to learning, user centred, and content-rich.

Throughout the day, visitors had an opportunity to interact with the project teams and eLearning members, and to gain insights into eLearning from both subject ad eLearning experts’ perspectives.
