HEA Academy Discipline leads visit Southampton

Published: 30 April 2013

In 2012 the Higher Education Academy’s (HEA) subject-specific provision was re-organised and the new Health and Social Care cluster emerged with a new team based at York (pictured). In April 2013, several members of the cluster team visited Southampton.

Liz Anderson, the Discipline Lead for Medicine and Dr Dawne Gurbutt, the Discipline Lead for Health-related Studies travelled to Southampton to find out about the HEA-funded Beyond Competence project (2010-12).

The visitors met with a range of health professions colleagues - including staff from Audiology, Nursing and Medicine. They also presented the new structure of subject-specific support - including fellowships and grants - currently provided by the Academy. Pro-Vice Chancellor for Education Professor Alex Neil welcomed the guests.

The visit, which took place from 29 to 30 April 2013, was hosted by the Medical Education Development Unit.
