Professor Judith Ellis (MBE) presents keynote at the “Mind the Gap” conference

Published: 24 March 2014

On 21 March 2014, 48 clinical educators from around the region gathered at Chilworth for the final event of the HEA-funded education research and development project.

Professor Ellis' talk was entitled "Closing the gap through education" and provided stimulating input on the changing nature of clinical placements that took into account regulation and policy as well as local initiatives and innovations. It was followed by a presentation of findings from the Beyond Competence project, discussion groups and a plenary. In the afternoon, participants attended a choice of workshops on topics such as resilience, belonging and the changing healthcare contexts.

The conference was organised by Faith Hill and Anja Timm. Additional input was provided by colleagues from the Faculties of Medicine, Health Sciences and the Institute of Sound and Vibration Research who facilitated discussion groups (Jane Burgneay, Jacquie Kelly and Clare Polack) and ran workshops (Judith Lathlean, David Owen and Paula Hunt).

This event was free to participants.
