Congratulations to Angela Fenwick and Kathy Kendall who received a VC teaching award for their work with a cross-Faculty team who developed a high profile module entitled Ethics in a Complex World.

The module, which extends learning beyond the traditional classroom domain, is one of over 30 interdisciplinary modules designed to promote flexible learning and access to innovative approaches to teaching and assessment. The module is delivered by colleagues from Health Sciences, Law, Psychology, Medicine, Philosophy and the Institute of Learning Innovation and Development (ILIaD).

Ethics in a Complex World aims to help students grapple with difficult questions and explore complex ethical concepts using group discussion supported by a variety of collaborative technology and social media. Student-generated topics and student-led sessions influence the direction and culture of learning while the ‘independent inquiry’ form of summative assessment provides a balance and allows students to pursue a topic of their choice independently and in greater depth.

Further details about the module can be found here and more information about Curriculum Innovation at Southampton can be found at https://www.southampton.ac.uk/cip/.
