National Undergraduate Neuroanatomy Competition 2018

A group of medical students recently had their work published in the high-ranking neuroscience journal The Neuroscientist (IF 7.461).

The paper centres around the lessons the authors and their team have learnt from running the National Undergraduate Neuroanatomy Competition, as well as from their innovative near-peer teaching programme and the educational YouTube channel, Soton Brain Hub.

Through these unique interventions, the team were able to explore what is important in undergraduate neuroanatomy education, what challenges the subject faces and how this can influence the future of the clinical neuroscience field.

The Neuroscientist is ranked 18/261 in Neurosciences journals and 14/197 in Clinical Neurology journals.

The article is co-authored by ten of our current students and two alumni who are currently Visiting Fellows of Medical Education. The lead authors were Kate Geoghegan and December Payne.
