Exploring the experience of Medical Educators undertaking an MA Education

This small study employs qualitative research to investigate the response of 11 medical practitioners to an MA Education Programme.  The participants are drawn from a variety of medical specialties and are at different stages of their careers. As they are introduced to ideas that challenge their views of education and of practice, they develop, both in their thinking and in their actions, particularly as educators but also as clinicians.

The presentation will also highlight issues around the process of undertaking small-scale educational enquiry and of researching ‘from the inside.' It will consider one medical practitioner's journey  from embarking ,on to completing, a part-time PhD.
