Training for BM teachers
The Doctor as Mentor and Role Model – the hidden curriculum in undergraduate medicine
Aims
In response to GMC guidance on the importance of the doctor as role model, this day will offer an opportunity to:
- Explore the impact of role modelling and mentoring on student learning
- Reflect on organisational role models and the hidden curriculum
- Develop further self awareness and effectiveness as role models in clinical context
- Enhance mentoring skills to enable students' reflective practice and self directive learning
Methods
The day will adopt a participatory approach to teaching and learning
All teachers of BM undergraduates are welcome to apply for this staff development event. You will be informed nearer the time if your application has been successful.
