Training for BM Teachers

We provide courses and workshops, online resources and embedded faculty development support for staff teaching on the BM Undergraduate programmes. We offer training and support to enable you to teach effectively and enhance the student learning experience.

Our training opportunities are available to everyone who teaches Southampton medical students, including University and NHS staff and teachers in Jersey and Kassel, Germany.

Our courses cover the theory and practice of education in the context of undergraduate medical education, embedding key learning, teaching and assessment principles. We use an interactive and experiential approach, modelling the concept of a learning cycle that includes not only factual knowledge and theory but also experience and reflection. We focus on building an effective learning environment and each course is tailored to the particular needs of participants.

We have a number of general courses that are available to everyone who teaches Southampton undergraduate medical students, and some that are specific to teachers within Primary Medical Care.
