The University of Southampton is committed to the principles of mediation and is keen to promote an alternative dispute resolution service for people who chose to seek an informal method of resolving their conflict. Mediation encourages working towards harmonious workable relationships which will have a positive impact on staff and student wellbeing and performance.
We understand that conflict can be an inevitable result of working or living with people who have different personalities, communication styles, goals and values and that any dispute can engender a great deal of stress, demotivation, dissatisfaction and even ill health.
