Mr Ben Coles BSc(Hons)
Faculty of Medicine Technical Lead
Mr Ben Coles is Technical Lead for the Faculty of Medicine at the University of Southampton, overseeing delivery of core technical support for staff and researchers.
Ben took up the post as Faculty lead in April 2021, having acted up as School Technical Team Leader since November 2019.
Prior to these roles, Ben worked as Laboratory Manager for the Clinical Neurosciences group in 2008, where he was responsible for overseeing health and safety, general laboratory management and staff training as well as contributing to active research.
Ben had previously been employed as a Laboratory Manager for iQur ltd from 2005, where he was responsible for developing and implementing a laboratory information management system, providing general laboratory management as well as carrying out COBAS, ELISA and qPCR diagnostic testing for HCV, HBV and HIV.
Ben first joined the University of Southampton in 2002 as a tissue culture technician for the Liver Research group where he was employed as a tissue culture technician and supported active research.
