She was the recipient of a European Marie Curie Individual Fellowship (2000) and of a MRC New Investigator Award (2006).
Microglia, the Dr Jekyll and Mr Hyde of the brain
Her main interest is to develop a greater understanding of the role of neuroinflammation in relation with ageing, neurological diseases and systemic inflammation, using the complementary approaches of human brain analysis and animal models. Her work is located at the junction between clinical neurodegenerative disease, human neuropathology and experimental neuroscience where she has developed expertise in neuroimmunopathology.
Delphine serves on: (i) International grant review boards for France, Canada, Spain and Belgium including The Weston Brain Institute, US Alzheimer’s Association, ERA-NET scheme of the European Commission, “La Caixa” Foundation; (ii) International editorial boards: Neuropathology and Applied Neurobiology, Scientific Reports; (iii) International conference committees: US Alzheimer’s Association co-chair of the Scientific Program, International Society to Advance Alzheimer's Research and Treatment (ISTAART); (iv) Grant review boards: Alzheimer’s Research UK, Hearing loss/ARUK, Wellcome Trust Cellular and Molecular Neuroscience Expert Review Group. Delphine sits on the BRAIN UK committee, Sheffield Brain bank committee, the Cambridge Brain Bank Committee and the British Neuropathological Society Academic committee. She was the external examiner for the MSc in Translational Neuropathology (Neuroscience) for Sheffield University (2015-2019). In 2014, as the co-chair of the Southampton Neuroscience Group (SoNG) - a platform for collaborative, interdisciplinary and applied neuroscience- she initiated the Spring Event and Prizes for the best neuroscience project delivered by an undergraduate and a master’s students. Since 2019, Delphine is chair of the PostDoctoral Association with the aim to enhance the development of the Early Career Researchers (ECRs) and represents the Faculty Concordat Champion, ensuring that the Principles of the Concordat with a particular focus on ECRs are implemented within the Faculty.
