Dr Irina Tikhonova MSc, PhD
Senior Research Fellow in Health Technology Assessment & Modelling

Irina joined SHTAC as a Senior Research Fellow in October 2019.
After graduating from Kazan Federal University with a degree in Applied Mathematics and Computer Science, Irina had a short stint as a software engineer working on an EEG software for diagnosis of epilepsies. She then did her PhD in Applied Mathematics at the Institute of Theoretical and Experimental Biophysics in Pushchino, the Biological Centre of Russian Academy of Sciences.
During her research career, Irina has been involved in projects related to epidemiological and economic modelling of human, animal and plant diseases, and utilised a vast range of different methodological approaches including mean-field, agent-based and statistical models. She has collaborated with a number of international institutions, including the University of Cambridge, Yale University, the Universities of California and New Mexico, and the University of Exeter.
Since joining SHTAC, Irina has been contributing to health technology assessment (HTA) submissions for NICE .
