Miss Jeanne Trill is a Visiting Research Fellow within Medicine at the University of Southampton.

Jeanne completed her PhD at the University of Southampton in 2018. She was awarded her BSc (Hons) in Herbal Medicine in 2008 from the University of Westminster, and went on to gain an MSc (with distinction) in Pharmacognosy from the London School of Pharmacy (UCL) in 2011. Her Master’s thesis focused on the Quantification of Pyrrolizidine Alkaloid Content in Borago officinalis. She has a keen interest in looking at treatment strategies for infection, due to growing antibiotic resistance.

Her PhD, funded by the NIHR focussed on alternative treatments for adult female urinary tract infections, lead supervisor Professor Michael Moore. Bench-work is being conducted at the London School of Pharmacy under the supervision of Professor Simon Gibbons. The main results from the trial have now been published.

Jeanne has been a practitioner of Western Herbal Medicine since 2008, and sees clients from all walks of life.   She is also a regular volunteer at the Lynda Jackson Macmillan Centre (Mount Vernon Cancer Hospital). Prior to moving into an academic field Jeanne was a qualitative researcher, and had her own research business for over 20 years.
