Dr Sam Hodgson
NIHR Academic Clinical Fellow in Primary Care

I am an NIHR Academic Clinical Fellow in Primary Care based at the University of Southampton.
I graduated with distinction from Oxford University Medical School in 2016, winning awards including the Casberd Scholarship and Margaret Harris Memorial Prize.
I subsequently completed the Academic Foundation Programme at Southampton General Hospital. During this time I worked on modelling asthma trajectories in the Isle of Wight Birth Cohort under the supervision of Prof. Graham Roberts. I then commenced an NIHR Academic Clinical Fellowship in Primary Care, integrating clinical training in General Practice with research skills training within the Department of Primary Care, Population Sciences and Medical Education.
Current projects include ongoing work assessing barriers to integration of health and social care in England; population stratification in type 2 diabetes; and the impact of loneliness on health.
I sit on the editorial board of BJGP (British Journal of General Practice) Open, and am a committee member of PACT (Primary Care Academic Collaborative) .
