NIHR Academic Clinical Lecturer in Surgery

Sheah Lin Lee is a clinical lecturer in surgery and a translational scientist in colorectal cancer. Her current research interest is in cancer immunology.

Clinical work and research has always go hand in hand for Sheah Lin. During her intercalated Mphil project whilst studying Medicine and Surgery (MBChB) in University of Liverpool, Sheah Lin, as part of a research team, was awarded a grant by Bowel Disease Research Foundation (BDRF). This grant funded her subsequent PhD programme, ‘Targeting Heat Shock Proteins in Colorectal Cancer’. Following the completion of her PhD and Foundation Programme, Sheah Lin was appointed as a NIHR Academic Clinical Fellow in General Surgery in 2016.
In University of Southampton, under the co-supervision of Prof Alex Mirnezami and Prof Aymen Al-Shamkhani, Sheah Lin begun her post-doctoral research career focusing on cancer immunology in colorectal cancer. She is particularly interested in unraveling the underlying mechanisms contributing to resistance towards immunotherapy in colorectal cancer using a combination of experimental laboratory and bioinformatics techniques.
Sheah Lin has received additional grant fundings from BDRF and Wessex Medical Research (WMR) for her current post-doctoral projects. She has published several journal articles and book chapters on colorectal cancer and cancer immunology. She was appointed as a NIHR Clinical Lecturer in Surgery in 2020.
