Research Medal Awards 2012 – Haematology Specialty

Dr Sean Lim, who was an MRC-sponsored Clinical Research Fellow/PhD student here at Southampton and completed her PhD in January 2012, has recently won an award from the Royal College of Pathologists (UK) for work undertaken during her PhD. The research medal is given annually to the best first author publication within a Pathology-related clinical specialty, in Dr Lim’s case, Haematology. The paper, entitled Fc gamma Receptor llb on target B cells, promotes rituximab internalisation and reduces clinical efficacy, and was published in Blood Journal.

Since completing her PhD, Dr Lim has received a CRUK-sponsored Clinician Scientist Fellowship to further her research jointly in the Universities of Stanford and Southampton.
