Celebrating clinical research in Southampton

Published: 20 May 2013

Monday 20 May is International Clinical Trials Day and Southampton, alongside other cities worldwide will be celebrating and promoting involvement in the research that is saving lives and improving many more.

Alongside a national campaign, called 'Ok to Ask' , aimed at encouraging people to ask their doctor about participating in clinical trials, University of Southampton and University Hospital Southampton NHS Foundation Trust have launched a new website explaining our work taking discoveries from the laboratory into the clinic.

The site focuses on our partnership’s world-leading cancer, nutrition and respiratory research activities, facilities and teams funded by the National Institute for Health Research (NIHR), alongside our NIHR Wellcome Trust Clinical Research Facility, where medical research first enters the clinic in Southampton.

Providing information and contacts for University staff, public and patients to get involved in research studies and trials, the website also explains the nature of our strong university-hospital partnership and what Southampton offers to academics, industry and health professionals.
