MedSoc raise over £2,000 for charity

On Wednesday 14 November members of the Students’ Union Medical Society (MedSoc) raised £2,221.57 for charities Action Aid and Southampton Hospital Charity.

The funds were raised in a London Underground raid which involved students from MedSoc working across 14 London Underground stations with collection buckets and flyers. They managed to beat their original target of £2,000, with the team raising the most money being located at Edgeware Road Station.

Southampton Hospital Charity helps to enhance the care and treatment of patients at University Hospital Southampton. They plan to use their donation from MedSoc to open the new Children’s Emergency department in Southampton General Hospital.

MedSoc‘s target this year is to raise more than £10,000 for charity. Their next event is a Carol Service on Sunday 2 December at Winchester Christmas Market where the Medics Choir will be performing. The event is open to all members of the University and the public.
