Event details
The Faculty of Medicine Postdoctoral Association is pleased to invite you to their Christmas lecture which will be delivered by Professor Hywel Morgan, professor of Bioelectronics and a Royal Society Industry Fellow, with Sharp Labs Europe.
The Lab-on-Chip is a revolutionary new approach to diagnostics. Just a drop of blood can be processed and analysed in a miniature lab, providing complex diagnostic information in just a few minutes. These so called microfluidic chips process tiny drops of fluid in complex but very low cost devices. In this lecture Prof Morgan will describe recent developments in miniaturised diagnostic technologies, and the future of fast on the spot diagnostics. The talk will provide examples of platforms including a miniature haematology analyser, and devices for diagnosing and monitoring infectious diseases.
The talk will be followed by wine and mince pies, and will provide an ideal opportunity for researchers from across the Faculty to meet up before the Christmas holidays.
If you would like to attend the Christmas lecture, please email
resmed@soton.ac.uk
with your name and Academic Unit.
