Redefining hypotension based on real-time monitoring of cerebral autoregulation
Professor Hogue's research interest is in monitoring autoregulation of cerebral blood flow in real time using processed near-infra-red spectroscopy as a means of individualizing clinical blood pressure targets. His clinical work is anaesthesia for cardiovascular surgery, in which field he is an acknowledged expert in blood pressure control, transfusion medicine, and perioperative neuro-cognitive outcomes. His lecture will be of interest to anyone involved in the physiology of blood pressure regulation or manipulating blood pressure in a clinical setting.
