Professor Saul Faust,Saul Faust FRCPCH is a Professor of Paediatric Immunology & Infectious Diseases at the University of Southampton, Director of the Southampton NIHR Wellcome Trust Clinical Research Facility and Associate Medical Director for R&D at University Hospital Southampton NHS Foundation Trust. As an MRC Clinical Training Fellow in Paediatric Intensive Care & Infectious Diseases and then Clinical Lecturer at Imperial College London, Saul completed his PhD on the pathophysiology of coagulation abnormalities in meningococcal sepsis, work that led directly to clinical trials in paediatric intensive care. In Southampton, Saul set up and leads the paediatric immunology and infection service, integrating clinical research into routine NHS care and conducting paediatric and adult vaccine trials as part of the UK academic paediatric vaccine group. Saul is clinical lead for the Southampton Biofilm Group, cross-Faculty work as part of the new Biomedical Research Centre that aims to find new treatments for biofilm infections in children and adults. Saul chaired the UK NICE Guideline Committee for sepsis in children and adults published in July 2016, and is current Chair of the NICE Guideline Committee for Lyme Disease in children and adults.
