Candidates must be a graduate with a degree (or equivalent) in a basic science subject, for instance Biochemistry, Biology, Genetics, Biomedical Science/Engineering, Immunology, or Zoology. The degree must be equivalent to a first or upper second (2.1) class Bachelors degree.
Proficiency in English is also required: the University of Southampton requires an IELTS score 7.0 (or equivalent - see below). TOEFL scores are also accepted and further details are available.
English language support
The University's Centre for Language Studies offers a number of English language courses throughout the year for students who wish to improve their academic English. The Faculty of Medicine also holds weekly English language classes for its postgraduate research students.

Candidates should complete the online application form and attach a personal CV (resumé) and covering letter. In your covering letter, please state clearly which of the three pathways you wish to follow:

Estudiantes Chilenos- Como Aplicar
Los candidatos deben acreditar pregrado (o equivalente) en una ciencia básica, (por ejemplo: Bioquímica, Biología, Genética, Ingeniería Biomédica, Inmunología o Zootecnia) y contar con un promedio general superior a 5.0.
Se requiere también demostrar proeficiencia en Inglés, el puntaje mínimo requerido es 7.0 en IELTS (o equivalente). Sin embargo, la Facultad de Medicina aceptará candidatos con 6.5 en IELTS (Aceptación condicionada a la asistencia al Programa de Inglés de la Facultad). El examen TOEFL también es aceptado. Apoyo en Clases de Inglés
El Centro de estudios de Idiomas de la Universidad ofrece diferentes cursos de Inglés durante el año para los estudiantes que deseen mejorar su Inglés académico. La Facultad de Medicina también cuenta con clases de Inglés semanales dirigidas a los estudiantes de doctorados.
