WISH Laboratory

The Wessex Investigational Sciences Hub laboratory (WISH Lab) provides a bespoke laboratory for translational research requiring quality assurance to regulatory standards.  

We can advise on GCP compliance, quality management systems, QA/QC, method validation, documentation, assessment of tissue and blood samples from consenting patients in clinical trials, academic studies, or analytical service delivery.

 

The laboratory was created from a portfolio of investment:

• from Charities, for example Cancer Research UK through the Experimental Cancer Medicine Centres, ECMC
• Department of Health NIHR funding to the Wellcome Trust Clinical Research Facility
• the NIHR Respiratory Biomedical Research Unit
• the NIHR Biomedical Research Centre
• University Hospital Southampton NHS FT
• University of Southampton
• Commercial partners

We develop novel assays as required and provide full validation of these assays to regulatory standards, for example GCP for laboratories, and have experience of MHRA inspections for CTIMP studies. We have considerable expertise and experience in the delivery of sample analytics for phase I cancer immunotherapy trials. This includes pharmacokinetic (PK), pharmacodynamics (PD) and a number of immunological monitoring methodologies. WISH specialises in the integration of disciplines with experience and expertise in nutritional profiling, respiratory diseases, molecular microbiology, and next generation sequencing.
