The Institute for Life Sciences (IfLS) will be the academy of scientists at the University of Southampton engaged with bioscience life sciences. It will be defined by its membership and will support those areas in which the research strengths of the University in bioscience can or will make an impact in the short, medium, and long term.
We aim to integrate biosciences across the University particularly in areas of excellence and critical mass, avoiding duplication, preventing isolation of individuals or groups, and complementing the strategic directions of participating schools including medicine, physical sciences/engineering, health sciences, mathematics and environmental/earth sciences.
