College Student Open day @uosIDS

Want to find out more about The Institute’s science, meet scientists and get hands-on laboratory experience?

Each year we host ~fifty 16-17 yr old students from local colleges. The project is led by Dr Lucy Green and introduces students to the Institute’s science and health implications. The day involves brief science inspirational talks and hands-on lab experiments from big genomic data sets to growing stem cells. The Institute is buzzing with lab coats, safety googles and enthusiasm from our staff and visitors. Students will be mentored by medical students and Institute researchers to come up with novel ways to engage others in the important science and health messages.

To register students for our 2018 open day or to find out more email Dr Lucy Green at ids@soton.ac.uk

“Thought that was outstanding today. My group was buzzing about the lab experiences and were very engaged in the discussion”
