Exchange programmes

MEXSU is fully committed to the strengthening of academic links between the University of Southampton and Mexico Higher Education institutions.

The ACAMEX-ACABRIT exchange programme seeks to encourage the professional development of Mexican scholars as well as promote the knowledge of language and culture of Mexico among British University students.

The ACAMEX/ACABRIT exchange programme intends to create life-changing opportunities for our students as they participate in the Mexican way of life by exploring its culture, art, history and the diverse variants of the Spanish language that have arisen across different regions in Mexico.

As one of the UK’s top 10 research universities in science and humanities, the University of Southampton offers visiting Mexican scholars top quality postgraduate courses in Applied Linguistics and Language Teaching programmes. These are offered by the School of Modern Languages that is ranked third below Oxford and Cambridge. Furthermore, Mexican teachers can contribute to the design of language teaching materials and tutorials at the Language Resource Centre in the University of Southampton.

The University of Southampton itself has, for a number of years, organised language teacher exchanges and consultancy with more than 30 Mexican universities supported by the Secretaría de Educación Pública (Mexican Ministry of Education). This Mexico-wide project has promoted the use of open access and independent learning for language learners. A full introduction to the current exchange programme (in Spanish) can be downloaded below.
