Towards a new clinical protocol for tuning CIs
Previous studies have shown that individuals with cochlear implants would benefit from adjustment of some tuning parameters which are often left at the default settings. However, there is currently no clinically established method for adjusting these parameters, which may affect perception of pitch, loudness and timing information.
During this study, hearing tests from the SOECIC Music Test Battery will be incorporated into a new protocol for tuning cochlear implants which will be more extensive than the current protocols. Experiments will be undertaken to optimise the individual stages of the protocol before a clinical trial is undertaken.
