On 21st July we ran an interactive music workshop for teenagers at the Southampton Community (SoCo) Music Project's Creative Hub in the Bargate Centre in Southampton, in association with 'Find Your Talent'.
The day started with getting to know each other and talking about our favourite types of music.
We spent the morning learning about different drumming techniques, which involved learning and listening to some fast and slow drum rhythms, and playing them back, which was great fun. In the afternoon we were able to have a go at playing electric guitar and bass, as well as having a great time on the electric drum kits. Everyone tried their hand at composing using the iMac's Garage Band. After a lot of fun, concentration and effort, a bit of dancing and a lot of swapping headphones and listening to each other's efforts, we had a showcase of each composition.
