The 'Hearing Music' stand exhibited in the 'Discover Zone' of the Cheltenham Science Festival to hundreds of visitors over two incredibly manic days! The stand had queues of people wanting to experience video-otoscopy or try out the Interactive Music Awareness Programme, keeping our Audiology and Music student volunteers extremely busy:
"Can't believe how many ears I looked in! And I have never seen so much earwax. I counted the number of times when I put the otoscope in a child's ear that the parent said something to the effect of "Oh look, the light's come right out the other side". It was 14." Frankie Pedley, MSc Audiology Student
"Everyone was really interested in the stand :) Really enjoyed being involved in it!" Maria Crawford, BA Music Student
Feedback from parents and teachers was also extremely positive,
"Your display was amazing and the pupils have been very interested in their ears so far this week." School teacher, Cheltenham
Many thanks again to Advanced Bionics , Med-El , Cochlear and The Ear Foundation who are supporting the stand, and to Chris White and 'The Head' from Action on Hearing Loss .
The 'Hearing Music' stand is part of the University of Southampton ' Bringing Research to Life ' Research Roadshow.
