Training event for professionals: running music workshops for cochlear implant users

This course is aimed at audiologists, therapists, musicians and other professionals who work with adults with cochlear implants.

Content:

- Theoretical presentations of the key principles and challenges of listening to music through a cochlear implant; results of our most recent research

- Interviews with cochlear implant users: experiences of learning to hear music again and attending music workshops

- Practical music sessions for confident and less confident workshop leaders; an interactive demonstration of therapeutic musical activities valuable to cochlear implant users

- A chance to try out our interactive music software, evaluated and refined through consultation with cochlear implant users

Date: Friday 13th September 2013, 10:00 – 16:00

Venue: University of Southampton Auditory Implant Service (Seminar Room, Level 3, Building 19 - see campus map)

Fee: No fee as this course is part of an AHRC funded project. Lunch will be provided.
