Priyanka has completed her BEng degree in Instrumentation Engineering (2017) and is currently pursuing her MSc degree (2018-19) in Biomedical Engineering at University Of Southampton. Her Master's programme focuses on Biomechanics, Implants and Clinical Research aspects of the course. For her final thesis she is working to develop a Lab-on-chip device to study protein aggregation using Self-Interaction Chromatography (SIC). Her MSc research is being done under the supervision of Dr. Dario Carugo which is a part of her masters course for biomedical engineering. The aim of this research is to create an alternative method to perform SIC on some of the expensive proteins such as Amyloid-β so that smaller amounts of protein is utilised, making the process more cost-efficient. Aggregation of dopaminergic proteins such as Amyloid-β is responsible for diseases like Alzheimer’s or Parkinson’s.
