Dr Tony Campbell is the Senior Teaching Fellow in Spanish and Latin American Studies at the University of Southampton.

I am a qualified secondary school teacher and have worked in the areas of education and Human Rights in England, Guatemala and Colombia. I completed my PhD entitled The struggle for livelihoods through community in North Izabal, Guatemala (1970-2002) at the University of Southampton.

Research interests

My research interests are closely linked to my teaching. The main areas of focus are indigenous identity and activism, religion and social change and movements challenging globalisation.

Research group

Debating Ethnography

I convene undergraduate units in Latin American History and Globalisation as well as contributing to team taught Modern Languages units and a Humanities unit. I am assessment coordinator for the year abroad.
