I teach reading, writing and grammar for our first-year post A-level German language course and as well as the writing strand of one of our final-year German language modules. I also teach the second-year module 'Vienna and Berlin: Society, Politics and Culture from 1890 to the Present' and the final-year literature course 'German-Jewish Writing Across the Twentieth Century.'
German language, literature and history
I have studied German at the universities of Cambridge, Durham and Sheffield. In 2007 I completed a PhD on the relationship between censorship and German literature in the early nineteenth century. I then taught German at the universities of Sheffield, Loughborough and Oxford before taking up my current position here at the University of Southampton in 2012.
