Event details
Since April 2009, the University of Southampton has hosted the South East regional centre for Links into Languages, which is one of nine centres in England.
The regional centres offer a programme of Links core and regional professional development for teachers of primary, secondary and further education, as well as drop-in facilities, networking opportunities, and access to resources. Each Links Regional Centre is supported by a network of Links Local Centres, making professional development opportunities available to all, regardless of where they live.
The Links programme is now well into its second year and Links South East has promoted over 80 events for teachers since April 2009. The centre has reached over 1400 people from across the South East, which stretches to Kent in the East and Milton Keynes in the north, only possible by the network of local centres.
Links into Languages is a consortium led by the
Subject Centre for Languages
(LLAS) at the University of Southampton with the
Specialist Schools and Academies Trust
(SSAT) and the
Association for Language Learning
(ALL). Within the consortium, LLAS is responsible for managing the Links programme as a whole, SSAT commissions and manages the development of the Links Core Courses, and ALL manages the LinkedUp Award Scheme. Links is funded by the Department for Education (DfE).
