Entry requirements

To undertake postgraduate study in Modern Languages you will need to meet the following criteria.

We generally look for a good first degree or equivalent, but deal with each application on its own merits, especially in the case of candidates who are not progressing directly from first degree work but who can offer appropriate experience.

English language

If English is not your first language, you will need to have already reached a satisfactory standard in an approved test in English, such as IELTS at grade 6.5 or above. Alternatively, you may choose to complete one of our pre-sessional English language courses. Visit the Pre-sessional language courses website for more information.

Most masters and research coordinators hold interviews as part of the selection process, except in the case of international students. You are very welcome to contact the appropriate masters or research coordinator to discuss your application and to arrange a visit.
