Mr Fan Fang is a Postgraduate research student within Modern Languages and Linguistics at the University of Southampton.

B.A. English Language and Literature, Shenzhen University, China (2002-2006)

M.A. English Language and World Englishes, University of Leeds, UK (2006-2007)

After I obtained my master degree, I went back to work in the English Language Centre of Shantou University as an English language lecturer in China for four years (2007-2011). I then decided to continue my research in the UK again and came to the University of Southampton for my further study. I have experiences as a language tutor of English and Mandarin in both China and the UK. I am currently pursuing my PhD degree under the supervision of Professor Jennifer Jenkins.

Research interests

My PhD research investigates Chinese university students and teachers' attitudes towards English accents, including their own, in the framework of English as a lingua franca. My current research interests include English as a lingua franca, language attitude and identity, and intercultural communication.
