I am currently studying for a PhD in Modern Languages at the University of Southampton.

I received my BA in English Language and Literature in Beijing International Studies University and the dissertation focused on the translation of cultural-bound words in the Analects of Confucius, making a comparative analysis on the two translation versions of the Classic.

Supervised by Dr Ian McCall, my PhD project investigates the translation of the culture-specific allusions in Chinese and English, and explores the performance of student translators rendering allusions through cognitive data (eye-tracking and pause data) in both directions, from 1st language to 2nd language and vice versa.

Research interests

  • Translation studies
  • Cultural translation
  • Cognitive translation studies
  • Intercultural communication
