Hi, I'm Amy Glover and I studied BA French Linguistics within Humanities at the University of Southampton.

The teaching was brilliant - James Minney was amazing in my final year. He was so enthusiastic and so passionate - someone I don't think I'll ever forget!

Why did you come to study at Southampton?

The reason I chose Southampton was because it had a very good reputation for languages, it had a lovely green campus, and the Open Day really helped me make up my mind.

What have been the highlights of your time here?

My highlight was my year abroad in France, followed by my final year. I had the most amazing time on my year abroad, I tried to stay out there for as long as possible. I lived and worked in the Champagne region, it was just amazing, but it was nice to come back to my friends in Southampton.

Would you recommend others to study the programme here?

I would definitely recommend languages but particularly the 4 year sandwich course; it really helped me whilst trying to find jobs and to be able to say "I've got this experience", something that a lot of people don't have, has definitely helped.

What are your ambitions for the future?

I've already secured a job working for Tesco's head office in London as a Food Buyer. I'm using my languages constantly, as some of the suppliers I work with are based in France so I've been travelling there and liaising with them in French on a regular basis.

What do you think of the teaching you recieved?
