Hannah Jones BA French and Spanish

Hi, I'm Hannah Jones and I studied BA French and Spanish within Humanities at the University of Southampton.

So far I have enjoyed everything about the last four months. From the subjects I study to my accommodation.

My timetable is really good, I start at 9.00am on three days and get a lie in on the other two. I am really enjoying doing linguistics at the moment and I never expected it to be as interesting as it is. The best thing about the course for me is that I am in classes with people of my own ability and, unlike the universities that my sisters went to, I am not put off by being in the same groups as people of a much higher standard than me. So far I have enjoyed everything about the last four months. From the subjects I study to my accommodation. Living in Highfield Hall is amazing, being in such a lovely hall and being less than 30 seconds away from Avenue Campus is an ideal situation. I don't want to have to leave next year!

Experiences of university life

I am so glad that there are so many people just like me. I was worried before I came here that I wouldn't fit in or that I would miss home. But unlike most people in my block I didn't even go back home for the entire first term, and now I am home I can’t wait to go back (even though I have assignments due!). I really am enjoying myself, and the University facilities are more and better than I expected. I am urging my friends to come and visit me because I know they will be impressed. Also Southampton town is great, it has everything and more than you need, including an extremely busy and varied nightlife.
