Our Partners

Our partners include internal and external relationships with scientists and mathematicians, industry partners, science centres and museums and schools and colleges. We manage the Science Learning Partnerships for Hampshire and the Isle of Wight and Dorset, South Wiltshire and Bournemouth & Poole as part of the National Science Learning Network.

MSLC has worked with CLEAPSS for over 10 years to host professional development for science teachers and technicians in Southampton. The Centre hosts a full programme of low-cost training courses for technicians, teachers and local authority officers. From September 2015, we will be partnering with Queen Elizabeth's School, Dorset and Worthing College to offer CLEAPSS programmes.

In 2015/16, we will be setting up a CLEAPSS Gene technology Hub to provide training for teachers and workshops for teachers and students.

Computing at School Regional Centre

Computing at School

The Mathematics and Science Learning Centre and Electronics and Computer Science, University of Southampton, are jointly running the Computing at School (CAS) Regional Centre for the South of England. The Centre will provide leadership, training and coordination of CAS activity in the region and support recruitment and training of at least ten new master teachers, working with master teacher coordinators.

Working with Industry

Polymer Solutions for our Future is a collaboration with the Horners’ Company Educational Trust and ExxonMobil, Fawley, which uses the context of polymers to engage teachers with the properties and uses of modern polymers, and the variety of routes into a range of STEM careers. Teachers have the opportunity for hands-on practical work, a tour of the ExxonMobil facility and to see the polymer plant operations in action.
