Our impact

Promoting impact of professional development is a key focus for the Centre, together with exploring methodologies for assessing impact on student learning in the classroom.

We believe that promoting impact begins with planning for impact; this includes identifying potential impacts during planning of professional development, involving tutors in considering key impacts from delivery and involving participants in discussion of impact during professional development activities. We collect evidence of impact using a range of approaches including self-reporting by participants, focus group and interviews and collecting evidence of students’ work.

We engage with the most current and relevant research on impact and evidence-based practice and have designed professional development for teachers to support their own research in schools and colleges.
