Physics key stage 3/4 teacher subject specialism courses

Teacher subject specialism training courses

Designed for teachers who are teaching out of their specialism subject, or who wish to offer teaching in physics at KS3 and GCSE.  Also suitable for returners to teaching.

Overview

Why Choose our Subject Specialism Course?

We strongly believe that face-to-face is essential to develop effective teaching through practical work. Due to the current restrictions due to Covid-19, delivery will be through blended learning, with additional support for teaching in school. The focus will be on subject knowledge, evidence-based pedagogies and effective learning through practical work. We integrate current initiatives, such as recent changes to practical work and its assessment. There will be opportunities to practice techniques in the classroom and to network and learn from other practising teachers.

Tutor
The course is tutored by Simon Fitzjohn.

The Mathematics and Science Learning Centre coordinates the Stimulating Physics Network in the South of England. Our physics TSST course carries IOP-enabled, community approved accreditation for 2019_20.

Dates
To be confirmed, taking place in the Autumn term 2020.

Fees
Free to state-funded schools and colleges. Funded by the National College for Teaching and Leadership. Cost for 5 day programme £495 (independent schools)
