More about the Trial

The MultICath Trial is part of the MultICath programme which is being done in two phases:

PHASE 1

Concentrated on topics about which we needed to know more before the Trial could proceed. Click on the links below to find out about the work of each module.

PHASE 2

A non-inferiority randomised controlled trial within which there is a 4 month feasibility study to test recruitment.

The Cleaning Module

Before we could ask intermittent catheterisation users to participate in the Trial, we needed to develop methods for the re-use of catheters that are acceptable and effective.

The Interviews Module

We needed to understand the important issues for intermittent catheter users as well as to verify the signs and symptoms they may experience when they have a urinary tract infection.

The Implementation Module

We recognise that it is extremely important to understand the perspectives of everyone with an interest in intermittent catheterisation.

The Feasibility Study

In a 4-month feasibility study we will test our plans for recruiting intermittent catheterisation users to the Trial from primary and secondary care centres in Southampton and Glasgow.
